Exchange-SQL Backup Software Advantages
 |
Back up any open
Exchange or SQL file, hassle-free Creates a snapshot of ALL open, locked
or in-use Exchange and SQL data. No more skipped files, log errors, having
users log out or close programs at backup time. |

Keeps backup files
synchronized and intact Advanced batch caching methods protect your
backups from corruption while maintaining relational file integrity of log and
data files. |
 |
Backups run silently in the
background Designed to work on high-traffic servers that receive
hundreds of thousands of requests per hour, ESBackup runs non-intrusively with
no noticeable slowdown. |
 |

system Unlike VSS, RDB's Exchange-SQL Backup Utility supports both
Windows file systems (NTFS, FAT32) and network file systems. |

Advantages over VSS backups
Exchange-SQL Backup provides distinct advantages
in performance, reliability and compatibility over Volume Shadow Copy-based
backups. With VSS:
- The data application and backup software must be VSS aware
(2003 Server or Vista).
- VSS can be hard to setup properly, and only only supported on
NTFS drives.
- VSS only guarantees file system integrity, not legacy writer
transaction integrity.
- Volume space for shadow copies must be specified; if volume
space is exceeded, then no shadow copy is created and the volume backup
fails.
- VSS needs to pause business operations while it makes the
snapshot.
- VSS does not support file servers or network environments,
but is designed to manage data only on machines where both the application and
its related files reside.
